Mrs. Koons is certified as an OB/GYN Nurse Practitioner and has her Master's degree in Perinatal Nursing. She earned a Master of Science in Nursing from the University of Pennsylvania, a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Millersville University and a Diploma from St. Joseph's Hospital School of Nursing.

Mrs. Koons is licensed in Pennsylvania as a Registered Nurse and a Certified Registered Nurse Practitioner. In addition, she is certified by the National Certification Corporation as a Women's Health Care Nurse Practitioner.
Barbara has extensive clinical nursing experience as well as management experience in the field of Obstetrics and Gynecology. She has also served as a childbirth educator.

Mrs. Koons is a member of the National Association of Nurse Practitioners in Women's Health, the Association of Women's Health, Obstetrics and Neonatal Nurses and Sigma Theta Tau nursing honor society. Also, she is a member of the Association of Reproductive Health Professionals and a member of the Nurse Practitioners in Central PA.
