history

The Women's Health Center of Lebanon has been serving South Central Pennsylvania since 1962, when its first obstetrician/gynecologist, George S. Poust, Jr., M.D., established a practice in Lebanon, Pennsylvania. Dr. Poust's goal was to bring to rural Pennsylvania the medical care that prior to that time was available only in metropolitan areas.

Dr. Poust's practice grew so rapidly that in 1966 he was joined by I. Samuel Lape, Jr., M.D. Quickly recognized as the premiere caregivers in the region, their practice flourished, requiring the addition of seven more physicians over the next few years.

As each physician was added, the practice has advanced its technical and academic superiority while continuing to provide family-centered specialty care for women. The medical staff settled into the community and provided a continuity of care that patients and their families found reassuring. Knowing their doctors were there for them year after year built patient comfort and confidence.

Today, the Women's Health Center continues to provide metropolitan quality care in a friendly, rural atmosphere.
